Lauren*, a patient who received treatment at MeadowWood Behavioral Health Hospital in New Castle, Delaware, shared the impact the staff there had on the transformation she experienced, from arriving there ready to give up on life to discovering her self-worth and embarking on her journey to health and healing.
“This place saves lives. They have an absolutely amazing staff of people working there. I can’t name them all, but I can shout out some of the people that stood out to me, though. Cheryl greeted me at the front desk. I honestly wanted to leave and just give up on life and myself, period. I know that lady is busy, but she still took time to talk to me. She completely changed my perspective and helped me remember my worth. Cheryl helped me get motivated to start changing the b.s. strings that I was allowing to run my life.
They have kick butt medical staff: Rhonda, Annabelle, Bucky, Gideon, Lis, Ms. Diane, Brian, Kyle and Kate. These guys go above and beyond for the patients. You can tell or ask them anything comfortably. Then, they have the techs that help patients, run groups and do everything else you can possibly think of, plus more: Edgar, Mallory, Denise, Keith, Larry, Lis, Matt and a lot more.
Then there are activity groups, which could be music, art, games, writing, etc. with Taneisha and Jace. I have told these hard-working folks things I haven’t even told my own friends. They helped me learn to open up more and learn the steps to start the self-love journey. They truly want to see everyone succeed and live their best lives. They never get a break from their meaningful hard work, but no matter what, they stay professional and manage to make impacts on so many lives every day.
These people are truly angels on earth. Some patients would constantly complain, which I get, in a way, because we come there at our worst and have mood swings, etc., but it’s not some mansion with servants. It’s a hospital for people who need help and it’s short term.
You will find yourself ready to leave at some point in your stay, but then when you’re leaving, you realize how quick your time actually is there. So focus on yourself and what you need from the hospital, and make the best out of your stay.
Also, be honest and open on what issues you are there for so you can get the proper help that you need. Stay blessed.”
Thank you to the MeadowWood Behavioral Health Hospital team for their dedication to making a meaningful impact on people’s lives.
